Julie Scarpo, MA, LPC

Julie Scarpo, MA, LPC

Julie joined the RR team in December of 2012 and her presence has brought a wave of new energy to our group. She very quickly demonstrated dedication to the practice, her clients, and her work. Her warm nature and non-judgmental stance allow her clients to engage in the process of therapy early on. She has received extensive feedback from clients about how comfortable it is to talk with her. Her ability to create an open and safe environment (with the necessary boundaries) has helped the clients she works with to tackle tough topics. Additionally, several parents have told her that their children are actually excited to come and talk with her. Imagine that! This is even true for ‘resistant’ adolescents and kids who are normally "shy" or "not willing to open up to anyone."

Julie sees her role in the therapeutic relationship as one of facilitator. Her belief that a critical piece of change is a person’s openness to discovering their real Self based on their own reflection and taking into account feedback from others who are close to them. As such, she works with her clients to increase their awareness and identify both strengths and goals. Lastly, she is an advocate for creating healthy relationships with the right people who can support and encourage her clients’ growth.

Julie received her BS in Psychology from John Carroll University and her Masters of Arts in Community Counseling from Western Michigan University. Since that time, she has worked in a variety of settings, including: a crisis hotline, a school, in family’s homes, and at a residential treatment center. The diversity of her clinical experience has provided her with an expertise in working with adolescents struggling with PTSD, Depression, grief and loss, and suicidal ideation. Additionally, she finds working with adults and couples with mood and/or substance use problems rewarding.

Client Testimonials

“Julie has been a great therapist - helping me achieve the goals I want to live a happy and healthy life!”

“I have been to a different therapist prior to Relationship Resolutions and although she was a nice woman, we just weren’t meant to work together. I stopped going after a month and it was my first experience so it was hard for me to seek out another therapist because I was nervous to not find one that meshed best with me. My experience with Julie has been nothing but positive. I truly enjoy my appointments and have never felt more comfortable talking about anything and everything. I would recommend her to absolutely anyone seeking a therapist. She does an amazing job at understanding me all while still helping me identify areas I want to work on and better. I have seen personal growth in me more in the last 18 months I’ve been seeing her than in the 28 years I've been alive pretty much. She's been a godsend and an irreplaceable figure in my life.”

“I am so grateful to have found a therapist that I connect with and that has helped me overcome so much. I have had no problems with relationship resolutions and have really loved my experience over the past year (maybe longer?!). Whenever someone I know begins looking for a therapist I automatically tell them about Relationship Resolutions and the work I have been doing with Julie. It has taken me years to find a place and therapist that makes me feel so safe, challenges me in the right ways, and has helped me through some of the toughest times. Thank you to you all for everything you do!”

“I walk out of every session better for having attended. Thank you, Julie.”

“I’ve recommended several friends and family to Relationship Resolutions because I had a truly valuable experience.”
