Jamie Brownfield is a Licensed Professional Counselor who, for more than a decade, has helped children, adolescents, and their families live up to their full potential by overcoming life obstacles. With sincere interest and a varied approach, Jamie has helped people by focusing not only on the individual, but also the family dynamics that influence their well being. She uses strength-based, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral counseling methods in her work. This means that Jamie helps clients access their inner strengths and resources and use those to guide and encourage them to be the best they can be. Oftentimes, this requires helping the person see how the way they are thinking about their situation is contributing to the problems they are in counseling to resolve.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California University of Pennsylvania in 2001, Jamie worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support for children and adolescents with dual diagnoses including Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Mental Retardation. Following graduation, she pursued a Masters degree in Elementary and Secondary School Counseling at California University of Pennsylvania then worked as an elementary school counselor for two years and as a middle school counselor for six years. She recently received her Doctoral Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University.

Jamie is a member of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association, American School Counseling Association, and the American Counseling Association and has presented at both on topics that included school crisis, post traumatic stress disorder, and the supervision of counselors.
